We are seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to be responsible for the construction of the pump stations on the Sugarloaf Pipeline Project. The project is a 70km pipeline linking the Goulburn River near Yea to the Sugarloaf Reservoir in Melbourne’s north-east - a major drought-proofing measure securing the future of Melbourne’s water supply.
The ideal candidate will come from a similar role on other pipeline projects, and have direct experience working for a construction contractor.
The key responsibilities of the role are;
Have a thorough knowledge of the contract, its engineering and technical specifications and any related sub-contract agreements.
Control, monitor, report and co-ordinate progress and planning on site generally and including specific areas of work. Provide technical and other support to Supervisors and sub-contractors including liaison with consultants to ensure that safety, time, cost and quality objectives are optimised.
Procure permanent materials and services that comply with specifications, drawings and quality standards, including overseeing quality plan requirements and conformity by all suppliers, sub-contractors and direct work.
As directed by your Project Manager/ immediate Manager, undertake any cost controlling, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, sub-contract claim review, commercial negotiation activities.
Make technical and engineering decisions, within the scope of authority, to ensure that all criteria specified in the contract and applicable to the process (including that of materials and workmanship) are met.
Accountability for progress claims, measurement of quantities, claims for extensions of time, claims for the release of retentions and certificates under the main contract are prepared in accordance with the administration guidelines.
Ensure that the construction programme is kept up to date with the latest extensions of time granted by client, monitoring progress and reporting variances to the Project Manager.
Establish and maintain an effective quality system to ensure that all records, test results and inspections required under the contract are obtained
Identify and successfully perform responsibilities assigned to this role, as outlined in the Project Quality Plan (PQP).
Manage quality issues in line with policy, PQP and JHG manual and procedures.
