John Holland manages the prestigious Country Regional Network
(CRN) which makes us the first accredited private rail transport operator of a
government owned heavy rail network in NSW, and one of only three accredited
managers of public rail infrastructure in the State. The scope involves the operation, management
and upgrade of country railway lines across NSW including 2,700km of
operational freight and passenger lines, and 3,100km of non-operational lines.
We currently have a vacancy for a Timetable
Program Officer to join our Network Operations team based at our Newcastle
site. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate their
ability to work in a fast-paced environment and sound problem solving skills.
You will also have outstanding communication skills in dealing with key
internal and external stakeholders and a high level of expertise in time
management and prioritising tasks.
Reporting directly to the Network Access
Planning Manager, the ideal
candidate will provide a focal point for the coordination,
determination and allocation of train paths for all operators and
infrastructure maintenance providers throughout the CRN network. Have thorough
knowledge of Network Control functions, knowledge of the Rail Safety Act and
System Safety Plans, ability to use diverse control systems as well as
computing technologies. You will also be responsible for the development,
approval and setting of an achievable network control daily timetable to meet
customer/business requirements in a safe and effective manner.
Your duties will include but will not be limited
Be aware of the changing train control
and infrastructure environment involving new technologies, upgraded
infrastructure and increases in volume and length of trains;
Provide templates for the basis for
the day to day planning operations
General management of the
administration and integrity documented operational material that is received
daily such as special train notices, safe notices and general orders;
Responsible for the examination of all
incoming documents and information and assess impact the documents have, if any,
on the Network Controllers' ability to perform their duties;
Responsible for the coordination
of train paths during emergency;
Ensure the daily working timetable
provides for optimum path management to
facilitate a superior level of service;
Provide specialist and technical
support and information to all rail operators which is critical for making
decisions regarding their operational strategies in a commercial and highly
Provide an integrated and coordinated
program to meet the daily transport task as laid down in contractual agreements
and specifications and develop train control diagrams to eliminate pathing
Responsible for the coordination of
the data coming from the many different and diverse sources both internal and
external e.g. Timetables, Upgrading, Business Groups, and other rail operators.
