About the Role

As the General Manager People Building you will provide strategic and operational support to the Building business unit by ensuring a strong connection and collaboration between John Holland’s People Strategy and the Building business.  You will work closely with the Building Senior Leadership Team, Project teams, CPO, People Senior Leadership Team and the Corporate People team to identify and understand business challenges and find opportunities to deliver solutions to enhance employee experience and business performance.

What you will do

  • Develop and deliver the Building People Strategy to support the performance and capability aligned to the John Holland Strategy and John Holland People Strategic Plan.
  • Lead the implementation of strategic People initiatives in collaboration with Corporate People, Building SLT and HR project leaders, including initiatives relating to workforce planning, capability, early careers, talent, succession, performance and goal setting, performance management, engagement, retention, attraction, leadership, development, remuneration and reward. Work collaboratively to ensure ER risks are minimised, develop strategies to address concerns, and provide support to senior leadership on serious ER matters as appropriate.
  • Provide governance around remuneration and rewards including TFRs, benchmarking, promotions and out of cycle requests, considering proportionality and internal equity within John Holland.
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure that all People activities are conducted in accordance with legislative and policy frameworks are consistent with business requirements.
  • Take overall responsibility for financial management of the function.

What we are looking for

  • Preferably Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Business Management, Human Resources, Law or Employee Relations.
  • Extensive experience in leading, developing and managing teams of practitioners of various capability.
  • Extensive experience providing strategic HR leadership and senior level experience across relevant HR discipline in large complex organisations.
  • Expert knowledge of human resources, employee relations and employment law in Australia.
  • Expert knowledge of national and state regulatory frameworks, systems and key risks
  • Experience managing the performance of a function, including people, safety and budget requirements.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills.
